Wire Brakes and Thread Brakes

The wire brakes or thread brakes listed here generate a wire tension by enclosing the wire guided through a ceramic or carbide eyelet with a felt or ceramic contact pressure. Behind the felt disks are pressure disks made of PTFE (Teflon), which serve as an emergency stop when the felt disks are worn. By adjusting the pressure spring, different pull strengths can be achieved as shown in the table below. These brakes are designed for wire materials where constant surface contact is not a problem.
